To Help Bring Home their Princess...

My friend, Amber, who blogs over at Strickland Sentiments, is the ONLY person in the WHOLE world who has these two things in common with me:

1) She's on the exact same waiting list as us waiting for her referral from Ethiopia.
2) I used to work with her "back in the day" at good ol' Target!

Yep, Amber is my only bloggy buddy that I know in real life that is also on the Ethiopia waiting list with CHI.  She and her hubby are currently in the throws of an Adoption Auction and she has some crazy fun stuff for bid.

Early Bird Christmas shopping with a purpose, anyone?!

Paying it Forward

I have had high hopes for putting together a post with several {random} elements this week, but we have been too busy living it up in our next to last week of summer!  Anyway, one of the things I wanted to tell you about was an opportunity to help another adoptive couple and score some super cute stuff {including a custom b-day shirt or Adoption Rocks shirt from yours truly}.

Tara and her hubby are preparing to bring their first child home from Taiwan very soon!  They are holding an adoption auction this week to raise the money for their travel expenses.  Wanna help?  If so, click their button below and start the bidding!

P.S. We're leaving tomorrow for our semi-annual off-season shopping trip {and to squeeze on Baby Liv!}.  I plan to post pics and details next week about how I bargain shop for my little ones! :)

Lil Athlete Birthday t-shirt

Sad, but true, Lil Mister is turning 4 on Friday. *sniff, sniff* We started what will end up being a week-long celebration of his birthday last Saturday {a post is coming on that soon!} and, of course, I was concerned with what he should wear!!  I wanted something that he could wear more than just once, so "Birthday Boy" was OUT!  I was also looking for 2 little boy gifts...one for his buddy whose birthday is May 12th and one for my sister's lil man whose birthday was yesterday.  Man, there were a lot of little boys born in May of 2007!

So, the Lil' Athlete Birthday t-shirt was born...

He liked it!  I know you can't see his face, so just envision his ridiculously huge smile...{covered in cupcake!}

Like it?  Want one?  I'm thinking about offerring a custom one (or two or three) in my upcoming auction.  I really think it would even be cute on a little girls fitted t-shirt.:)

Our Names in Print

How cool is this?!  We are in a book!!

A couple of months ago, I received an E-mail from Julie Gumm asking if I would give information about our adoption auction for her book that she was writing: "Adopt Without Debt."

I agreed without hesitation and gave her some basic info about our auction that we did in early February.  Well, the book has come together and is now PUBLISHED!!

You can preorder your book on Amazon.com TODAY!  This is the PERFECT gift for anyone you know that is in the adoption process or thinking about entering the process.  And, get this...she plans to give back some of the profits to people who are adopting!!  I've never met Julie Gumm, but I sure hope I get to someday...she has to be an amazing person!  Plus, she has two biological kiddos and two kiddos from Ethiopia. :)

To help spread the word, Julie is having a giveaway on her personal blog, Four Plus More.  You can click on the link and read about the giveaway.  Man, I would love to win that package!  {Note: since I have pretty bad luck on the giveaway deal, if you win, would you please get me one of those super cool Ethiopia decals for my van?!}

Just wanted you to know! :)

P.S. When you get the book, be sure to check out pages 114 and 115 :)

P.P.S. Dates for our next auction are set and donations are starting to roll in!  Mark your calendars for Friday, May 27th to Friday, June 3rd! :)  Also, let me know if you have anything you'd like to donate!!

I'm Back!

Hi, Friends!

I'm back from a two-week unannounced sabbatical.  I really didn't mean for the absence to happen, but, man, these last two weeks have been CRA.ZY!  Between state testing at work, choir rehearsals and performances, sitting in on interviews for my current position, and Easter, the Internet just had to wait! :)

So, here are a couple of things to get you up to date:

1.  There has been no adoption news.  No referrals, no news, nada...nothing.  To be honest, this might just be the most difficult part yet.  It's so cyclical...we'll feel like things are really moving and we'll be getting a referral any day and it's all so real, and then, nothing happens for a while and it almost feels like a dream and that it's not really going to happen at all.  This is where we are right now.  But, it will get better...we just need some news!

2.  We are getting ready to ask for donations for our "Welcome Summer" adoption auction.  If you are interested in donating, please send me an E-mail to jnchase311 @ yahoo . com.  More on that coming soon. :)

3.  I have realized that I don't blog enough about my precious little ones.  SO, this week is going to be all about my little blessings: Camden and Melia.  If you are not the kind who likes to gush over super cute kiddos, you might sit out of my blog this week.;)

May I Direct Your Attention Please...

to my friend, Emily Hapner's Adoption Auction...

The Hapners are on the waiting list right below us and we have become very good friends, even though we are half a country away from each other.

She has some super amazing stuff on her auction, including several things from yours truly {I was thrilled to be able to pay it forward by donating to her auction!}, so head over and check it out!! :)  Because, seriously, how great is it to get to advance the kingdom AND get something great all at the same time?!

Team Chase's Adoption Auction

It's {finally} here...our first auction to raise money to bring our two little sweeties home from Ethiopia!!

First of all, let me just say a big thank you to those of you who have been followers of this little blog in the last year (we are almost at our one year blogiversary!). Next, a big WELCOME to those of you who are visiting from another blog that you follow. In this blog, I write about adoption, family, crafting, and life in general from my Christian/working mom perspective. :) If you like what you see, feel free to follow...we love friends! :) And, last, but not least, I have to give a shout out to my amazing creative friends and bloggy buddies who donated their goods to make this auction possible...THANK YOU!

So, on to the reason you are here...our Adoption Auction. I am SO excited for this auction! We have been given some awesome donations (mostly handmade!) from some great friends and from people who we've never even met! Here's how the auction will work:

1. Peruse the AWESOME items that are for sale during the auction (January 29th, 2011 at midnight through February 5th, 2011 at 11:59 p.m, central standard time).

2. Find the items you would like to bid on and leave a comment* with your bid, name, and e-mail address. (Your bid on most items will include shipping from Missouri, so please keep that in mind as you place it! :))

3. If you win, I will send you an E-mail requesting payment for the item and/or information about your requests (if the item is custom-made). Upon receiving payment via check or paypal, I will ship the item to you!

That's it...super easy! And, every last penny that you spend will go directly into our adoption fund. Our overall expense is around $30,000. So far we've raised/had donated close to $2,800.  Almost 10%!  We are excited to see where this auction will place us on the financial portion of our adoption road!!

So, without furthur ado...the auction items!  (Click on each item for it's bid page.)  Happy shopping!
