About a Boy

Just look at this kid...
My Camden, my one and only son {for now}...he melts my heart with that grin {even when he makes me want to pull my hair out}!

He's a yellow...motivated by fun!

According to the Motive Matters personality test, Mr. Camden's intrinsic motivation for fun makes up about 80% of his personality.

Which is why when I try to take a picture of him, it often ends up like this...

But, this week, Trev and I saw a different side to our son.  He cares SO MUCH about people!  He has this amazing capacity for making sure that everyone is having as much fun as him and if they aren't, he does what he can to change it.

Several times this week, this 4 year old had the intuition to know when High School students were uncomfortable or lonely and that was NOT ok with him.  One evening, we were sitting in a session and Camden noticed a boy {who tends to be alone a lot} by himself.  He asked me if he could go talk to him, and I told him that was ok.  So, he went and sat beside the boy and had the sweetest little conversation with him.  This happened several times with different teenagers, but it was in that moment that I was overcome with emotion for this little guy.  He has the BIGGEST heart and, boy, do we have a giant responsibility to make sure that he maintains that love and care for others.

What an amazing personality God has given our son!  I pray fervently that he always wholeheartedly loves the Lord and that we foster his God-given gifts and talents in such a way that Christ is glorified through our boy fulfilling his calling in this life.

We love you, buddy, and we thank God for your boisterous personality!  We know God has BIG things planned for you!

October-What a Whirlwind!

We have been SO CRAZY BUSY in October that I have been very absent from my blogland.  I guess it's probably a good thing to be too busy to blog, but I want to remember all the fun stuff we've been doing, so here goes:

We started the month with our town's Homecoming:

We went "booing," one of our favorite family traditions:

Check out those spooks!

Can't resist the crazy eyes!

Melia's been doing a lot of writing and reading this month (so proud of her accomplishments this year!!):
Translation: Mrs. Schmidt, I'm going to the K-1 South.  I love you.  Love, Melia Chase

We went to Columbia, Missouri to visit my brother and his wife.  The boys plus Amy and Lindsey went to the football game while mom and I took the girls shopping.  We all got in the spirit, even though events weren't conducive to a whole group picture:

We went to the Pumpkin Patch with our Home Group:

Melia and I went with my parents to see America's Got Talent Top Ten in Kansas City:

It was really exciting and fun, mixed with a healthy dose of disappointment.  Melia's very favorite from the show (and the whole reason we went) was Jackie Evancho, and she wasn't even there!  But it was still good mommy-daughter time and we made some pretty great memories!

I've done some projects:

An IPhone Holder for my Mom's birthday

A onesie, burp rags, and a diaper holder for my sister's new foster baby

Oh, yeah...my sister got a new foster baby:

I know this is a horrible picture, but I can't post her precious little face (you know, confidentiality!); trust me she is A.DOR.A.BLE!

Whew!  I hope we have enough October energy left to enjoy Halloween!

Love,
Jen

P.S. No news on the adoption front.  Still waiting on the home study.  I'll keep you posted!

About Our Team

Hello! This is our first post, so I'm just testing to see if it works. :) My name is Jen and my husband, Trevor and I have been married almost 10 years (March 11). We are high school sweethearts and are both turning 30 in March...YIKES! We have two beautiful children: Melia, who just turned 5 and Camden, who is 2 1/2. We are Christians and love God more than anything. We recently have been feeling God's calling in our lives to adopt 2 children internationally. After much prayer, research, and conversation, we truly believe that our baby/babies are from Taiwan and as of last Thursday, February 4th, 2010, we are on a waiting list at His Hands Taiwan, Inc. We are obviously praying hard about this process, our finances, the ministry of His Hands, the mother(s) who will bear our baby/babies, and (of course) our babies. We are so excited to see how this process has already begun to change us and how it will continue to do so!
